Time trailing
I was given the all clear for riding again at six weeks after the crash. I was a little naughty and went out on the fifth week... and might have ‘accidentally’ ridden my first TT at Aust that week too.
I was on the heavy bike (well, one of them), as my good bike was still minus a front wheel, and my arm wasn't really up to it. I certainly felt every bump in the road, but it was a good bench mark for a first average speed, and a time to beat next year.
I’ve since ridden a couple of other time trials including the BSCC open 10, an interclub 10, and more recently a very painful 25 mile Chew lake (3x laps) time trial.
I don’t think I’ve quite got used to all out riding yet, but it has really improved my training and has got me more involved in club life, which is always nice.
I’ve not yet opted for the TT bars or skin suit. I’ll be saving all that for when I’m a little more desperate for speed. I’m sure it won’t be long though.
