Worn out cleats and bad luck
It was my third time round the Chew Lake TT classic league course, or the sixth counting the three lap time trial last week. I was hoping to set another PB, as has been the trend, but alas, it was not to be.
My pedals have been quite slippery lately, I thought it was just me getting my footing confused between bikes and pedal/cleat positionings, and didn't think too much of it... until half way up the first climb on the course when my shoe un-clipped from the pedal, twice.
Here's why.
Four miles or so later, to add insult to injury, I had to stop for traffic. It was at this point I knew it was over.
Needless to say it wasn't my fastest time round the course, but it wasn't too far off either, considering.
Still, things could have been worse. My foot could have fully slipped off the pedal when un-clipped, leading to a painful mount onto the top tube... or I could have gone right up the back of the reversing car at 20 miles an hour.

In that light, I still haven't decided whether it was a really unlucky day, or a really luck one.
It did however create the perfect opportunity to get these nice new Speedplay pedals, I'll be getting the cleat covers too though this time.
Its may be lucky day for you as you were at least able to get these nice new Speedplay pedals :) by the way good going.
